Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival have announced “DUETS” as a new format for artists who want to explore crossdiciplinary work.
Duets is part of Buffer Fringe’s new “Micro-Formats” platform that encourages cross-cultural dialogue among artists from different artistic, cultural and social backgrounds. This format will “pair-up” artists and grant each Artist-Duet a rehearsal space for a week-long artistic encounter during which research and rehearsals take place, culminating in a performance/presentation on the final day of the residency.
Duets particularly encourages collaborations between classic performance/stage arts (dance, theatre, music, stand-up comedy) with the visual arts (design, fine-art, architecture, installation), literature (writing, journalism, dramaturgy), or new technology (digital, interactive, social media).
Each Artist-Duet will be given a rehearsal space for one week during October; the opportunity to meet other artists, access to all performances and parallel events of the festival, a chance to share their experience over networking events and an opportunity for international exposure of their work to other festivals and the World Fringe Network. A modest stipend of EUR 100 will be provided to each Artist-Duet to cover basic expenses.
Aside from a short stage performance/presentation at the end of the collaboration (15-30min), Buffer-Fringe will grant a small number of Artist-Duets – selected by a committee of professionals – the opportunity to perform within the main stage of the Buffer-Fringe Festival (Nov 1-4, 2018). Selected Artist-Duets for the Festival will receive a EUR 500 grant.
Deadline for Duets applications is 6th of July, 12 pm. More information about the call can be found on the Home for Cooperation’s website (http://home4cooperation.info/node/8798), at email@example.com or at +357 22 445 740 / +90 548 834 57 40.
Other Micro-formats developed this year are: Read My Lips?, Critical Mass!, Home Visits and Satellite. More information about these formats will be announced soon.
