Beginnings<\/em> constitutes a distinctive offering of a musical journey that started with the Island Seeds\u2019<\/a> first single \u201cStray Cat<\/a>\u201d; a humorous take on the adventures of a stray cat in Nicosia\u2019s buffer zone, incorporating names, streets and buildings from the band\u2019s location of birth. Quintessentially Cypriot and yet effortlessly outward looking, Stray Cat \u2013 and the entire album \u2013 couples a hopeful personal outlook with a sense of resigned inevitability, melodically dovetailing between humour and irony.<\/p>\n

Rooted in soul-sprinkled melodies, psychedelic driven grooves and esoteric lyrics that draw inspiration from the collective\u2019s reality while living in Cyprus, the Island Seeds and their Mediterranean Soul sound is a fresh musical perspective in the island\u2019s music scene. In overcoming personal, physical and mental barriers to create Beginnings<\/em>, the Island Seeds show the possibilities of inspiration, creation and collaboration when connection and empathy is at the heart of engagement.<\/p>\n

The music collective, born in the spring of 2022 in Nicosia\u2019 buffer zone, is comprised of eight artists and musicians from Cyprus\u2019 largest two communities. Brought together by Home for Cooperation and the \u2018United by Sound<\/a>\u2019 program\u2019s creative director Lefteris Moumtzis, the collective serves as a medium of musical self-discovery and experimentation, drawing from each member\u2019s own musical path and career. As such, the Island Seeds is like no other group in Cyprus; unique in its composition, sound and ethos.<\/p>\n
