Open Call for Musicians – Local Sounds by Giorkin Project

We’re excited to announce an open call for Cypriot musicians and ensembles to participate in the next edition of Local Sounds, a small-scale, artist-led concert series celebrating original, independent music-making in Cyprus. This edition is supported with the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia’s Buffer Zone, by providing complimentary access to its space and equipment.

Local Sounds is a platform designed to amplify the unique voices of Cypriot artists by offering full creative control and fostering community, dialogue, and experimentation. Selected musicians will perform their own original material in an intimate concert format, followed by a casual open jam session that brings artists and audiences together. Together, we aim to support independent music-making, provide professional performance opportunities, and present accessible, high-quality concerts that uplift emerging and established artists while promoting cultural dialogue across communities.

All application fees will be administered by the Giorkin Project, with proceeds directed towards supporting the participating musicians and organizers.

WHO CAN APPLY

• Solo artists or ensembles (up to 3 members)

• Cypriot nationals or residents

• All genres welcome, with a focus on original material

• Emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply

WHAT YOU GET

• A professionally produced concert performance at Home for Cooperation (Nicosia)

• Full artistic autonomy: you design your own set

• Technical and production support (sound, lighting, venue)

• High-quality audio-video recording (with artist approval)

• Promotion via Giorkin and Home for Cooperation channels

• Receive an artistic fee up to 100euros per artist

HOW TO APPLY

(One application per ensemble)

Applications must include:

• A short artist bio (max. 350 words)

• 1–2 high-resolution photos

• 1–2 links to recent live performance videos

• Optional: A short motivation (why you want to be part of Local Sounds)

Submission Fee: €10 per application

 FINANCIAL INFO

• All application and ticket revenues are reinvested into the project

• Selected artists will be compensated for their performance (100 euros per person)

• There is no additional production cost to the artists

KEY DATES

• Deadline to apply: 31 Oct 2025

• Announcement of selected artists: (Beginning November)

• Concert potential dates: 27.12.25 or 28.12.25 or 3.01.26 (subject to coordination with selected artists)
