Description
Join the Home for Cooperation (H4C) team through the European Solidarity Corps and contribute to projects that promote solidarity, peacebuilding, dialogue, culture and social inclusion in Cyprus. As a European Solidarity Corps Volunteer, you will support the organization, implementation, and communication of cultural and artistic activities while gaining hands-on experience in project management, communications and event coordination. You will work in a dynamic intercultural environment, collaborate with local and international partners, develop valuable professional skills and connect with young people, educators and organizations from Cyprus and around the world.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will have the chance to live in a furnished rented flat shared with other volunteers, close to the office and not far from the centre of the town if they choose to. The flat contains all the necessary amenities and is divided in different rooms, kitchen and bathroom. The volunteers will have their own bedroom, a shared kitchen and bathroom. In addition, they will have the option of using a bike from the H4C free of charge for their convenience. Pocket money and food allowance will be provided per month per volunteer.
Training during the activity
The volunteers will be offered free of charge language support either online or on-site at the Home for Cooperation. The volunteers will be expected to dedicate around two hours a week to attend the language courses. All the staff of AHDR/H4C who coordinate projects, will be working closely with the volunteers, in order to provide on-the-job training, constant support and mentorship, ensuring the participant is making the most of their time.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will support the Home for Cooperation (H4C) team across a variety of projects and daily operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with project implementation through research, transcription and administrative support.
- Participating in team meetings, project meetings and meetings with external partners.
- Supporting proposal writing and research on funding opportunities.
- Assisting with front desk duties, event coordination and the organization of activities hosted at the Home for Cooperation.
- Helping manage the H4C E-Store.
- Contributing to H4C’s communication strategy by creating and editing content, including social media posts, publications, and press releases.
- Updating website and social media content and monitoring media coverage.
- Supporting communication campaigns, maintaining calendars and databases and preparing communication plans.
- Assisting with translations, collecting data, preparing reports and presentations, and helping evaluate and strengthen H4C’s public image.
Participant profile
- Young people (18-30 years old)
- Volunteers with an interest in History, Education, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Peace Studies, Conflict Resolution, Human Rights or any other related disciplines
- For non-Cypriot particpants: must have a sending organization outside of Cyprus
- Motivated and creative
- Has enthusiasm and commitment
- Flexibility and capability to work independently and also in a team
