Description:
Join us on a walk exploring how this millennia-old town has embraced its history.
How it keeps reassigning its urban edifices together with its communities, around the whole town, creating ‘narratives’, while the young social forces of modernity develop new ways to inhabit and enjoy their own culture and existence in the city.
This walk will outline the multiple socio-cultural write-overs and traumas in Nicosia’s history as a glance through its past, and walk to the present socio-cultural throbbing city buzz. We will look at how and where the young and daring re-invent a symbiotic model in the in-between spaces, with a hopeful, live spirit. Through discussion and questions, the participants will learn more about the local context and reflect on the socio-political relevance of contemporary culture.
We will walk through major squares and thriving youth neighbourhoods, cultural and social hubs in the city, which make up the 21st-century identity of Nicosia’s multicommunal and international inhabitants.
