Town Crier
The project produced a series of paradox sentences and images depicted through typography, photography, digital collage and digital fabrication, emphasizing on displaced letters, misplaced words and replaced objects, in a way in which they create new meanings. The audience will be able to pick up a small book containing all experiments described above.
Having challenged ourselves by exploring each-other’s methods in word play and design, we have produced work inspired mainly from the news.

About the Process:
The project aims to produce a series of paradox sentences (poems) depicted through typography, photography and even digital fabrication, emphasizing on displaced letters, misplaced words and replaced objects, in a way in which they create new meanings.
We aim to challenge ourselves by playing on the theme of displacement in three ways:
- Explore each other’s methods in word-play and paradoxical poems production
- Look up notions of displacement from dictionaries and produce paradoxical poems
- Produce process maps depicting the route that the sentences took to reach their final destination.
In a process where “displaced texts” are born through a highly personal activity, they usually become exhibited for public consumption only in their final form.
We will however aim to “expose” ourselves through the use of bus stop windows, a performing town crier and a short run publication.

Creative Team:
Omiros is an Assistant Professor at the School of Fine and Applied Arts at the Cyprus University of Technology and coordinator at the Semiotics and Visual Communication Lab. He is broadly interested in hand-on exploitation and experimentation of various materials and printing techniques, letterforms, storytelling and narrative by exploring/utilizing various graphic design aspects and mediums.
Eva has been working as Special Training Staff at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, Cyprus University of Technology. Her research interests lie in the visual aspect of contemporary art, dance and theatre. She designs, makes and exhibits her own contemporary furniture/ three-dimensional designs with an emphasis on sustainability and upcycling.
